Suriya and Vikram-starrer Pithamagan to be remade in Hindi by Satish Kaushik – all deets inside

Directed by Bala, Pithamagan achieved a milestone in Tamil cinema and received great appreciation from all around.

2003 Tamil hit film Pithamagan starring Suriya, Vikram, Sangeetha and Laila will now be remade in Hindi and will be produced by Satish Kaushik. The veteran actor-filmmaker is currently on the lookout for a director for the film since he is busy with acting assignments. Pithamagan was one of the biggest hits of the early 2000s and amplified the careers of the actors in the film. Directed by Bala, Pithamagan achieved a milestone in Tamil cinema and received great appreciation from all around. Actor Vikram won the National Award for his performance in the film which made him a bankable star.

"I bought the rights of the film as it is an unusual and hard-hitting story. My hands are full of acting assignments at the moment, so I won’t direct it," Satish Kaushik was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror. This is not the first time Satish Kaushik has opted for a remake. In the past, he has made films like Tere Naam, Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain, Badhaai Ho Badhaai among many others. Coincidentally, Satish Kaushik’s Tere Naam is the official remake of director Bala’s Sethu which also starred Vikram.

It will be interesting to see who would Satish Kaushik sign on for the remake since the story is an intense drama.
